Introducing CAMPRO, A Level-Funded Health Plan

Introducing CAMPRO, A Level-Funded Health Plan

Employers face an urgent need to address rising healthcare costs. With double-digit premium increases on the horizon, they require alternative solutions to avoid passing these costs onto their employees. In today’s challenging labor market, where retaining employees is critical, businesses must offer a cost-effective medical plan that balances affordability for both the employer and the employee.

CAM has partnered with Varipro, a Taft-Hartley-owned third-party administrator, to create CAMPRO—an affordable, progressive healthcare plan designed for its members. CAMPRO offers six comprehensive level-funded medical plans and three level-funded prescription drug plans that combine the advantages of traditional fully insured plans with the cost-saving benefits of self-insurance.

Level funding operates like a traditional insured plan, with employers paying a pre-set monthly amount to cover applicable employee member medical and prescription drug claims for the year. If medical and prescription costs are lower than anticipated, the surplus is returned to the employer at the end of the plan contract year or the surplus can be used for the following years coverage. Conversely, if medical and prescription costs exceed the monthly payments, no additional charges are collected. This approach provides the predictability of fully insured plans while unlocking the savings potential of self-insurance, making it an ideal solution for small to mid-sized businesses. This policy is underwritten by Intermediary Insurance Services, Inc. (iiSi). A minimum life count of 15 enrolled lives is required.

Healthcare is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Through a partnership with Varipro, a boutique TPA, CAMPRO can be tailored to meet the specific needs of employers with over 100 enrolled employees. As an independent TPA not owned by a carrier, Varipro works solely in the best interest of its clients. Recognizing the need for change in the industry, the company has collaborated with CAM to develop a solution for its members.

Varipro takes pride in its exceptional customer service and progressive approach, understanding the importance of innovation and customization in healthcare to better serve employers and employees alike.

CAMPRO will leverage HAP’s network pricing for claim costs, providing access to comprehensive healthcare coverage. HAP serves 34 counties with a network of more than 28,000 physicians and 85 hospitals, extending coverage to 47 counties with 50,000 providers and 152 hospitals.

In addition, CAMPRO has partnered with ProAct, a boutique pharmacy vendor dedicated to mitigating rising prescription costs. ProAct offers various employer-focused programs, including specialty drug management, mail-order services, and international sourcing options. Their committed customer service team serves as advocates for members, ensuring they receive exceptional support and cost-effective solutions. Employers will be entitled to 100 percent of all rebates on pharmacy claims. Quarterly rebates will be applied to claim funding and will be included with experience reporting.

CAMPRO also offers dental coverage, vision coverage, and life insurance products.
