Candidates for the 2025 CAM Board of Directors
November 4, 2024 - The Construction Association of Michigan (CAM) is excited to announce the nominees for the upcoming Board of Directors election. We are pleased to introduce you to these exceptional candidates who are dedicated to steering the direction of the Association and shaping the future of the construction industry. Through a member voting process, three will be selected and installed during the 139th CAM Annual Meeting on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Board members serve a three-year term.
Each member firm receives ONE ballot via USPS. Ballots must be returned by December 6, 2024. Participation in this important process will help determine the direction of CAM and its continued commitment to the construction community.
Let's get to know the candidates:
Nominees
Joseph E. Maiuri, Shores Tile Company, Inc.
Background: Joseph Maiuri is the President and sole owner of Shores Tile, a family-owned business founded by his father in 1966. After studying marketing at Bob Jones University and working as a sales rep, Joseph returned to Michigan in 1997. He moved from fieldwork to the office in 2012, joining ownership in 2016, and became President in 2022.
Joseph is active in the Detroit Ceramic Tile Association and has served on its Board of Directors since 2017. He has also participated in labor negotiations for BAC Local 2. Married for 25 years, Joseph and his wife Tonya have four children. He enjoys family time, sports, house projects, and golfing.
Jelane M. Raycraft, Grunwell-Cashero Company
Background: Jelane Raycraft, President of Grunwell-Cashero, has over 23 years of experience in building restoration. A third-generation leader, she has worked in every area of the family business, founded by her grandfather in 1953. Jelane manages multi-million-dollar projects and also runs her own WBENC-certified business, Cashero Raycraft LLC.
She studied Human Aging at Michigan State University and has led major historic restorations, including Michigan Central Station and the Fox Theatre. Jelane is involved in several industry organizations, including BAC Local 2 and CREW Detroit. She and her husband Kevin have two teenage sons and enjoy supporting their sports activities. In her free time, Jelane enjoys traveling, gardening, and cooking.
Brian G. Parvin, CASS Sheet Metal
Background: Brian Parvin is the Vice President of CASS Sheet Metal, a Detroit-based family business specializing in architectural roofing and facades. He began his construction career as a project engineer with the Christman Company, contributing to the Book Tower redevelopment. A 2020 graduate of Michigan Technological University with a degree in mechanical engineering, Brian also led volunteer projects for Engineers without Borders in Panama and Bolivia and studied abroad in Spain.
Brian, raised in the construction industry, is active in several organizations, including SMACNA Detroit and the Detroit Economic Club. He is also a founding member of the CAM Young Professionals Group. Brian and his wife Megan recently welcomed their first child, Callen, and enjoy family time, trips up north, skiing, boating, and exploring new restaurants.
Carl J. Paine, National Specialty Contractors (NSC)
Background: Carl Paine became President of National Specialty Contractors (NSC) in 2021, a division of National Construction Enterprises. NSC specializes in carpentry, millwork, and general trades. Carl has been with the company for 10 years, working his way up from carpenter to President, after starting his career at Denn-Co Construction.
He holds a degree in business administration from Northwood University and served as a U.S. Army Reserve combat medic. Carl is active in several industry organizations, including the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry. Outside of work, Carl enjoys outdoor activities with his wife Stacy and their two children. He also coaches baseball and is a member of Northridge Church.
Tom G. Thompson, R.S. Dale Company
Background: Tom Thompson is Vice President and a founding member of R.S. Dale Company, a construction supplier serving industrial and commercial contractors across Michigan and the U.S. Since joining the construction supply industry in 2004, Tom has worked his way up from warehouse operations to leadership, excelling in various areas such as sales, IT, and management.
He is an active member of the Construction Association of Michigan and STAFDA, and participates in industry events and sponsorships. Outside of work, Tom enjoys golfing, cooking, and outdoor activities like hunting. He and his wife Kara have two children.
Milford E. "Ted" Woodbeck, Overhead Conveyor Company (OCC)
Background: Ted Woodbeck became President of Overhead Conveyor Company (OCC) in 2021, a family business founded by his grandfather in 1945. OCC specializes in material handling, automation, and robotics for the automotive and industrial sectors. Ted started his career as a structural steel estimator and later became a Project Manager at OCC before being promoted to Vice President in 2007.
He holds a degree in Building Construction Management from Michigan State University and serves on several industry boards, including the Michigan Conveyor Manufacturers Association. Ted and his wife Christina have two daughters. He enjoys traveling, golfing, running, and attending sports events.
